There are three ways to vote on the referendum:
Election Day Voting
Election Day is Tuesday, April 29. Voting will be open between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at all three school gymnasiums. Residents can cast their vote at any of the three locations.
Absentee Voting
Absentee voting is available by mail, or in person at the district office. To receive an absentee ballot, fill out an absentee ballot application and return it by mail or in person to April Sommer, Business Manager at the Crystal office. You can also request an application by contacting the business office at (701) 657-2163 or April.Sommer@valley-edinburgk12.com. The office is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
4013 Euclid Avenue
PO Box 129
Crystal, ND 58222
After submitting your ballot application, an absentee ballot will be provided to you. Completed ballots must be returned to the Crystal office. All ballots must be postmarked or returned in person by the day prior to the election (Monday, April 28).
If you choose to vote by mail, please allow plenty of time to receive and return your ballot. The district is not responsible for votes not counted due to postal delays.
If you are a resident of our school district who intends to vote in the referendum via absentee ballot but have not yet submitted your ballot application, please submit your application or request an application be mailed to you directly from the Valley-Edinburg district office. Absentee ballot applications sent to the county auditor will take longer to process.
The application Walsh County residents received for the county jail referendum is the same application as the school district referendum. The county offices are sharing these with our district if the school election box was checked, but this takes time to be forwarded on. Our goal is to ensure that everyone who would like a ballot receives one in time to cast their vote.
If you have already submitted an absentee ballot application to the County, but have not yet received a school ballot, please submit a new application to the Valley-Edinburg District office. PO Box 129, Crystal, ND 58222. This will ensure that you will get an absentee ballot as soon as possible.
If you have question or are wondering if we have received your absentee ballot application, please call the district office at 70-657-2163 or email April.Sommer@valley-edinburgk12.com. All absentee ballots must be postmarked or returned in person to the Valley-Edinburg School in Crystal by Monday, April 28th, the day prior to the election.
Our district is committed to providing all voters with clear and accurate information about the referendum. Check out the Resources page for more.
